That Knit Night I was talking about earlier

Knit night is more than getting together with friends, it is GIRLfriend time. Nothing against boys - guys - men at all, no. I adore my boys. Girl time is pretty much a matter of balance for me. I like the girl talk and the oooh-ing and the giggling and the sugary sweetness, every now and then. Knit night is teaching, learning, sharing, remembering, showing off, thinking, focusing, meditating, making, loving, relaxing, fun, making new friends... things like that. Balance.

There will be another knit night.

Jill's 9-year old daughter is winding yarn into a ball. Santa brought her a knitting book that came with yarn and knitting needles and oooh! yay fun!

First we use a swift to help hold the yarn so it can be rolled.

A co-worker of mine is learning to knit for the first time in her life. M is a natural. Sure, it took a minute to get the idea, but she caught on quickly. Here she is casting on.

Another knitter is born. I only had to show R one time and she totally got it! She ended up showing her mom how to cast on later on.

Another co-worker of mine also came. She has been knitting for 40 years, and boy were we glad she was there. She also showed me how to knit with the yarn in my left hand.... Apparently I had been 'throwing' the yarn all this time, and it turns out that takes longer.

I still prefer to throw my purls though.

Jill is casting on. Her knitting kneedles are just gorgeous! They look like candy.

Totally hip knittin' 9-year old chick.
