And then it was June.
I never did write the PTO newsletter. After 3 cups of coffee at midnight and just being too brain tired, I ended up zonkin' out on the couch at 4:30 am. Dork mama.
It's just as well. There are only 4 days left of school now. Of course there will always be a parent here and there who will be all up in ruffle because they haven't seen a newsletter since May... I hope a bird poops on their car windshield.
Hey guess what! We're on a digital-diet. Yesterday at lunch we went to SAM's and looked at 42" plasma TVs (because the El Cheapo Wal-Mart brand TV we got a few weeks ago started showing a red stripe going down the screen and so we took it back and got reimbursed) and while we were looking at these giant screens at SAM's that are flat and cool looking and has amazing color and all that, my conscience was mumbling something, not quite sure what, but a mumble it was, and then, for some reason, I just said, "C'mon, let's think on this a little. We don't have to get one today. Let's just take a break from TV for a while."
Yeah, easy for me to say. Not being a big TV-aholic, what's the big deal? I got my Mac and our brand new broadband! Ha ha ha ha!
Not anymore. Ha ha ha ha....
When I came home from work my sweet little Daisy Mac was nowhere in sight.
John concluded that when he has to go without the TV (and PS2) I get to join him and go without the Mac and internet. Ummm, OK. 'No big deal,' my mind says to my conscience through clenched teeth. 'This is a good thing.'
I went outside and watered my garden, pulled some weeds and took the dog for a long walk while the frozen lasagne baked in the oven. I picked some lettuce from our garden and made a fresh salad. We ate dinner, and cleaned up afterwards. We got the boys cleaned up and ready for bed. After a shower and folding some laundry, I joined the boys in the TVless livingroom and flipped through the IKEA catalog. John was reading Moby Dick (seriously) and the boys were drawing and asking questions and engaging in conversation.
Maybe we could disconnect the cable altogether? With all the money we save we could buy fine wine.
