Been Looking Up Today
Cool winds blew today as the heat from the sun simultaneously heat the air to over 90 degrees. The cool winds were beautiful. The winds came from the east. Wispy white clouds painted the bright blue sky. Those clouds were the very last western throws of Katarina, and the winds we enjoyed were the weak and worn out remnants of her fury. It was not possible for me to enjoy these things without being reminded of the havoc and devastation left on the gulf coast...

Tonight we aimed the Amazing Swarovski STS 65 up toward the Western sky and I SAW THE STRIPES ON THE PLANET JUPITER!
I have never seen the stripes on Jupiter before, can you tell?! Also, Venus is right there below Jupiter, only Venus is bigger and brighter and more starlike.
I wonder if Galileo saw the stripes on Jupiter.

Tonight was soccer practice. I talked to one of W's coaches and his wife. They both spoke with beautiful sounding British accents. I asked them how long they've lived here in Arkansas and the wife said she's from here, though she lived several years in England and picked up the accent while there. Lovely, quite lovely! As we carried on a friendly conversation about the language, and such, I heard myself suddenly speak a few words with faint British inflections while proper English phrases were hopping about in my sentences. Groovy!
Now if only I could meet a French speaking person and learn French, maybe just by talking to them?

Well, folks. I gotta get to the dishes.
