So, how was your vacation?

This is John basking in the early morning sun outside the camper.

This is Z having the time of his life in strapped in the backseat for 14 hours. Every hour or so I'd toss them a couple of Skittles to keep them pepped up and totally oblivious to the monotony. The backseat DVD player we borrowed form a friend (there's no way I'd actually BUY one of those........) also helped. Seriously. Nevermind what I said in the past about backseat DVD players. I have been redeemed!

Here's W looking through the really awful view-o-matic thing on top of Prospect Mountain in Estes Park.

We've got a lot going on right now. School starts in a couple of days, and this weekend we are going to go camping again. (Just can't stop, can't get enough of the outdoors, since we were spoiled rotten while in Colorado.)Today after work I went to the store and bought the boys' school supplies. They don't really get into that, and I enjoy it, so it works out. After that and after I picked them up at the day camp where they spent today, we headed up to Kaye's. W has been hired by her for a summer job.
For the next week or so he'll feed and water their dog, chickens and flowers. He'll also play with the dog, shock the pool and swim in the pool. A perfect summer job for a 10-year old.
He's pretty excited - though his enthusiasm is so incredibly subtle it isn't detectible without the most sensitive vibe sensing perception. He's in this stage (lord I hope it's a stage) where he will not audibly or visibly acknowledge anyone when they are speaking to him. Nope, not even a head turn. It's just delightful.
