Teddy
Both of my boys have their own teddy bear. They each regard their bears differently, however. While my 9-year old considers his Teddy a virtual family member (when he was younger he referred to Teddy as "son,") my 5 year old kindergartner is all about battling warriors and knights and Teddy is his partner, his buddy, his brave heroic sidekick.
Here is a sketch that quickly came together while we were on vacation in July in Colorado. We are sitting outside the camper at a picnic table, and "teddy" has found a sharp stick and a piece of bark. It doesn't take long for "teddy" to figure out that these two perfectly natural objects make for the perfect shield and sword.
