What is your addiction?
Something that has been on my mind today is the conversation I had with my sister and mother-in-law at the Main Street Cafe on Saturday in Eureka Springs.
Long story short, it became a discussion about what constitutes overindulgence and when does consumption (of anything) become harmful. Even deemed sinful, if someone is inclined to judge.
There is a word in Swedish - lagom - and it means "just right." Moderation.
I think moderation can sometimes be confused with status quo. Maybe status quo is often regarded as boring and dull? But really, I think even the proper amount of rebellion, defiance, dissent, and resistance is important and a part of the total. Balance. {Insert metaphore of choice here.}
When we talked about this over a breakfast at the Main Street Cafe we thought about all the 'innocent' things that can be overindulged.
Coffee?
Dr Pepper?
Diet Coke?
Chocolate?
Candy?
Sweets?
Doritos?
Exercise?
Sleeping?
Slouching?
Chips and Salsa?
Cigarettes?
Tobacco?
Surfing on the internet?
Gossiping?
Judging others?
Beer?
Wine?
Shopping?
Cleaning?
What else?
