Star Wars

Last night we went to see Star Wars Episode III.
We all went. Even Z, who is 6.
Even though the Movie Mom said not to bring the little ones...

When the music began and the big Star Wars logo appeared in 9 ft tall letters across the screen I could have sworn I heard both John and W giggle. They were sitting together, father and son, eyes as big as the Tatooine moons, basking in the glow of the starry sky and ...in a galaxy far far away...

We went to a 9:05 pm showing. Z fell asleep on my lap after the first Jedi Council session. He woke up in time to see the last 20 minutes.

John and W probably never blinked once.

Afterwards John turned to W and remarked, "I have seen all the Star Wars movies in the theater. When I was your age (10) I saw the 'first one' Episode 3."

When we drove home W pondered, "Maybe there will be an Episode 7, the Epilogue..."
Yeah - maybe. I could see the cast - an aged Harrison Ford and Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher, 40 years later...

It was midnight when we came home. The boys (all three of them) were still talking about the movie. "What was your favorite part?" "Which guy [character] would you want to play?" "I can't wait to see Episode IV again."

After milk and crackers fika at midnight, we looked up the online Ultimate Star Wars Character Test.

Z turned out to be Yoda. W was Qui-Gon Jinn. John (hehe!) was Jar Jar Binks - the most annoying creature on the planet!

My favorite line from Episode III (warning, deep thought, warning):
"Death is a natural part of life. Rejoice for those around you who transform into The Force.
Mourn them, do not. Miss them, do not. Attachment leads to jealousy. The shadow of greed, that is.
Train yourself to let go of everything you fear to lose." -- Yoda
