Reality

If you were here yesterday you may have read or maybe skimmed through a long narrative.

I have been out of touch with the other side of the world while I was living in the Here and Now in My Real Life these last few days. No TV. No newspaper reading. I have been enjoying Real Life with the family.

This afternoon after company left and the dishes were washed and the floors swept and the linens washed, and all that, I sat down here at the kitchen table to surf on my new laptop and that's when I read all the headlines about the horrible disasters and the unthinkable devastation.
Each person can do something to help. My job is to be a mom to my boys and to remind them that eventhough nature can cause the deaths of thousands and thousands of people there is still beauty and hope and love in the world. There is always a balance.

[Warning: Cynicism follows, to keep this post balanced]
Today I also read how the US is stingy with humanitarian aid.... People are arguing, indeed measuring, how much aid in money each country is contributing. Suddenly generosity is a political pin and an opportunity to compete. Grrrr. This is wrong on so many levels. And yes, it is even more wrong that the US had to toss so little to something do big so that it even had to become an issue in the first place.

Back again to virtual reality.

I am enjoying getting to know my new laptop. 'Daisy' hitched a ride in my bag when we went to the library this afternoon where I logged on wirelessly. Neato.
