Food Worship - Muwa Ha Ha Ha!

My hubby sometimes jokes about my strict diet, and says it is food worship. I just roll my eyes to him and ignore him when he says stuff like that. It is not food worship - it is food mindfulness. He has a body type that doesn't budge one centimeter even if he throws down a bag of tortilla chips and a pint of salsa, followed by a beer or two, and ending with an entire bag of Oreo cookies, hydrogenated oils and all. Not me. I can look at a scone topped with strawberry jam and whipped cream and gain 2 pounds. Or so it seems.

So the dieting is going just fine. I've settled in an maintained now for almost a month. I like how my clothes fit now.

Speaking of food, I have been tagged by Hanna on the topic of 'comfort food.' So here we go!

"Name five foods, dishes or otherwise, that were a part of your childhood, and that you sometimes miss when nostalgia gets to you..."

1. Risgrynsgröt - not one single Christmas season passes that we do not have a bowl of this delicious cinnamon and sugar strewn rice porriage.
2. Klådda - Farmors flatbread. I have the recipe, but it never turns out quite like hers.
3. Plättar or pannkakor - Swedish pancakes, small and large. Yummm! (Gosh, three starchy foods in a row)
4. Blodpudding - This may not sound apealing to some people, but growing up in Sweden we sometimes ate fried blodpudding with lingonberries. It was good.
5. Rökt abborre - Farfar caught these little perch out of the Kalix River and then he smoked them in a smoker he had built directly in the ground. I think I liked the smell more than the flavor which is actually pretty mild.
